A Simple Daily Nail-Care Routine
A good routine is mostly boring: clean, dry, trim, protect and stay consistent. That matters whether you are using a cosmetic oil, a prescription topical or no product at all.
Daily
- Dry feet carefully after bathing, especially between toes.
- Change socks when damp.
- Wear shoes with enough room in the toe box.
- Apply any chosen topical exactly as its label or prescription directs.
Weekly
- Trim nails straight across rather than aggressively rounding corners.
- Clean clippers and files.
- Check for skin cracks, redness, blisters or pressure points.
- Rotate and dry shoes if they stay damp.
If nails are very thick
Do not force heavy clippers through a painful nail. People with diabetes, neuropathy or poor circulation should be particularly cautious with at-home cutting and may benefit from podiatry or clinical foot care.
Where an oil fits
A topical oil such as Kerassentials can fit after washing and drying if you want a conditioning step. That routine choice should remain separate from the question of whether a medically diagnosed infection needs evidence-based antifungal treatment.
